Pure Imitation Maranie

So here it is, the new year. Things are getting hectic at work, now moreso than ever since Katherine has left and I'm the one taking her place. Clients are getting unstable as well. This all means that I have to go into work tomorrow, which I'm loving my new job so I don't mind too much. Besides, I'm salaried but they'll be paying me time and a half for the extra hours I work. Plus they're ordering pizza. I'm loving this place.

All this shit Jason and I need to do sometime soon - balance the checkbook, write out bills, go grocery shopping, take down the Christmas decorations, plus a whole plethora of other things that I'm just not thinking of right now as I discuss with Kopi the wonders of owning a car in Athens. Ah well, procrastination rears its familiar head as I put off all this shit some more to chat.

So tonight we went to see "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring."

Very good movie. Held my attention without any desire to look at my watch for the first 2.5 hours - and I didn't look down again after that. Ended pretty abruptly, but Jason said that's to be expected since it's the first of three. It got his thumbs-up too, as he said everything was as he'd pictured it, and I'm trusting him since he's actually read the books. (No, I haven't, and before anyone gives me righteous shit about it, lemme tell you that I've already heard it. Save your energy to watch the film!)

The only beef I had with the entire film experience are the cretins who inhabit the Lennox. The theater smelled badly of something - truthfully, much like strong garlic and a baby's discarded diaper. The idiot factor was high in there tonight, as people were openly giggling and laughing in all the wrong spots of the film, such as touching death sequences. The ladies room - let's not even go there. Then I get out to my car and find that while we were gone, someone stole my Jack-in-the-Box ball from my antenna. (Yes, Chip, the one you picked up for me in L.A.) So color me a not-so-happy camper with a fading view of humanity in general.

Happy New Year! Just had to post today, if for no other reason than to see that date.

Had a wonderful time at Mandy's last night, hanging out with many S-crew members, playing a game that Alena made up and hopping into the outdoor hot tub at around 1 am (yes, it was only about 15 degrees outside, but as the water was 103 degrees, it all evened out!) Much snacking was done, and I had my fair share of champagne. A very good party indeed.

Here's to a new year, a new beginning, the fear and excitement of what 2002 may bring. May it be better than last year and the first of many more wonderful years to come.

OK, so this past weekend in Marietta was fun. Lots o' cool gifts, good food, good company with the in-laws. Got to hang out with my friend Crystal at the local mall today. Goodness abounds.

This will most likely be my last entry of this year! So without further ado, despite all the year-end goodness you have read, lemme say what's been said for the past 365 days or so:

Worst. Year. Ever.
