Pure Imitation Maranie
Saturday, March 02, 2002OK, so Geocities has decided not to host offsite FTP transfers anymore, or whatever. Fine. I'm stuck now on blogspot, which is OK except for that big honkin' ad floating at the top of the page. But hey, it's free and I'm cheap, so here's a word from our sponsor.posted by Maranie on 3/02/2002 06:16:00 PM OK, this pleased me to no end: ![]() Which Rock Chick Are You? Yup, that's me, sans the hot ass and the talent. posted by Maranie on 3/02/2002 02:55:00 AM Gee, I wish I could take the human virus scanner test without the computer locking up halfway through so that I need to quit in the best case and reboot in the worst. :-P At any rate, I'm feeling much better now. Last night was fun too; Susan and I went to a CD release party for Zero Rain because she's friends with Dave the bassist. They played a really good show and the CD's pretty good too (but then again, I'm biased - they endeared themselves to me by doing a cover of "You Give Love a Bad Name" at their show.) They had an opening act that I bought the CD for too, called Stone Velvet; their live show is much better than what they've commited to disc. All in all, though, a double bill I'd recommend. I'm feeling better enough that I think I'll be making it to the Shadowbox tomorrow night to see BillWho? live and do some dancing, once again with Susan. Should be another good time; here's hoping, however, that I do not get sick again. posted by Maranie on 3/02/2002 02:02:00 AM Friday, March 01, 2002OK, so Chip has fixed the missing quote problem here and put up some amusing rollovers on my links. Thank you!I had a bunch of other stuff to say, but I don't feel so hot. Think I'll mention them later. posted by Maranie on 3/01/2002 04:03:00 PM What can I say? I rock! posted by Anonymous on 3/01/2002 02:57:00 PM Thursday, February 28, 2002Hey Chip, saw the titles for the websites. Cute. ;-) What else have you done to my blog, hmmm?posted by Maranie on 2/28/2002 01:03:00 AM *sigh* OK, the probate exam is over. Everyone cross their fingers and pray to whatever god you believe in that I passed. Same with the bankruptcy exam I'm turning in tomorrow. I've been exhausted and in a pretty strange mood the past couple days. I haven't really had a moment alone to put anything in here yet, and that will continue now as I must get ready to go to bed. posted by Maranie on 2/28/2002 12:54:00 AM Monday, February 25, 2002OK, Chip, you've removed the highly unflattering photo of me from the site and took off the confetti which I said dated me as an "80's sixth-grader". So past those things, I like it. A lot. I'll still be looking for a better background but the colors and everything (bright! cartoonish! tacky!) is great. Plus I appreciate all the effort, yada yada yada. So overall, thanks. And don't forget that I have less-than-flattering photos of you too, dear. :-)Onto other news: For those of you who are interested, today was a great day. Jason had the day off, so we went to The Spaghetti Warehouse for lunch and ate too much pasta, salad, bread, and dessert. On his way back, he stopped and picked up that Chez Geek game that Chip got for his birthday; we'll play it in a little bit. Work was OK, traffic was minimal, and I heard a lot of good songs on the radio on my way home. Hey, simple pleasures - take 'em where you can get 'em. The only downside to my day - and trust me, it's a minor one - was our computer guy. Now, let me throw out the disclaimer that he's a really nice guy and seems to be very good at what he does. He's been more than patient with our server problems and the problem that Kelly and I have been having with the printer we share (namely, that it just randomly throws in spaces in the middle of documents, letters, you name it.) But while he was fixing this problem on Kelly's computer, he started humming. And it didn't stop, just this middling off-key tune that never took off. He did this for the better part of a half hour. It drove me to distraction; I'm serious, I couldn't concentrate. I did all right for a while when I caught enough of a little snippet to imagine he was humming the theme from Xena: Warrior Princess ("The power! The passion!") but then the "tune" changed and that blew that idea all to hell. I know, I must be mental or something to let this bother me so much, but I actually found myself asking him totally inane questions just to get it to STOP. Ah, the joys of being neurotic in an office setting..... posted by Maranie on 2/25/2002 10:03:00 PM I'm either going to get lynched or praised for this. But before you kill me, I do have backup of the old design. But here's hoping you like the new one. posted by Anonymous on 2/25/2002 06:02:00 PM Sunday, February 24, 2002OK, so we all studied at Donna's tonight and I'm feeling a bit better. Sure, I don't know the material by heart, but I seem to be no worse off than them, plus we're allowed to use our books. Will I get a good grade? Who knows? But will I pass - that's what I'm no longer worried about. I'm wondering, however, if this is false confidence or the real thing.posted by Maranie on 2/24/2002 09:43:00 PM First off: Everyone, take my Friend Test. It's totally vain of me to want to know how well my friends know me, but what the hell. Secondly, I'm procrastinating again but that's OK. I came to the realization that if I study all afternoon THEN go to Donna's to study, my brain's gonna be fried. I will, however, run down to OfficeMax to get some tabs, and try to organize my notes and papers; hopefully stuff will stick in my brain by total accident that way. And I don't need to leave so early either, since John just called with news that he has purchased a truck over the weekend. In addition to all this, I'm going with my co-worker/classmate Megan's school of thought, which is "I've made all A's and B's so far, so all I'm shooting for is a D to pass so I can get this over with!" Which really isn't a bad idea. Third, I just wanted to say that it's been a great day thus far. Had a wonderful conversation with Coby on the phone this morning, chatted with Chip online for a couple minutes, had my SimCity develop nicely, and, since our neighbors to the right have moved out and Jason is at work, got to belt out "Total Eclipse of the Heart" off-key in the shower. A good way to start off the week, if you ask me. posted by Maranie on 2/24/2002 01:35:00 PM OK, got the car. Ate supper. Good to go. Now just have to remember to pick John up tomorrow at 4:45 pm, at the CVS on the corner of Lane and High, to take him to Donna's study group. Hopefully the act of typing it will help me remember. posted by Maranie on 2/24/2002 12:07:00 AM |
